From Clarity HQ
The AI advisory assistant your clients should actually use.
Your clients are already asking AI their questions. They’re just not asking your AI.
hartley is the AI advisory assistant for small business owners, built for accounting firms. It connects to your clients’ real financial data, and delivers honest, grounded business insight using proven advisory frameworks. Unlike generic AI tools, hartley knows your clients’ numbers, challenges bad assumptions, and escalates to your team when it should.
Your clients are Already Asking aI their questions.
They’re just not asking yours.
A 2025 PayPal/Reimagine Main Street survey of nearly 1,000 small businesses found that over 50% are already exploring AI and 25% have integrated it into daily operations. Your clients are using tools like ChatGPT to ask questions about their business. Cash flow. Tax planning. "Should I hire?" Questions they used to ask you.
The problem isn't that they're using AI. It's that generic AI doesn't know their numbers. It doesn't know their margins, their cash cycle, their debt position, or what happened last quarter. It gives confident-sounding answers with zero context.
Research from Stanford found that across 11 leading AI models, every one affirmed users' actions 50% more than a human would — even when those actions involved poor decisions. Users rated the sycophantic responses as higher quality and trusted those models more.
“Your clients are getting agreement from a stranger when they need honesty from their advisor.”

Hartley is a client-facing AI advisory assistant that actually knows the numbers. Not generic business advice. Not chatbot platitudes. Hartley connects to your client's real financial data and delivers insight grounded in what's actually happening in their business.
Think of Hartley as the advisor who's always available. The one your clients can ask at 9pm on a Tuesday when they're worrying about payroll. Except this advisor has seen their management accounts, knows their 7 Key Numbers, and won't just tell them what they want to hear.
Hartley's branding is minimal and fits naturally alongside your firm's identity. You don't white-label Xero, and you don't need to white-label Hartley. But if you want to go further, full white-label with a custom name is available as an upgrade.
What hartley Does.
"What if your best advice could reach every client, even when you're not in the room?"
📊
Answers with real data
Hartley answers cash flow, margin, and hiring questions with actual numbers from connected financial data. Not generic guidance. If the response is outside guardrails, Hartley escalates the query to you.
📈
Creates upsell moments
Contextual, not pushy. When a client's numbers suggest they need a funding plan or tax advisory, hartley flags it to your team. The AI identifies the moment. Your firm captures the opportunity.
🔍
Gives you visibility
Every question a client asks is a signal. If three clients ask about cash flow in the same week, you know something's shifting. Hartley gives you a window into what's on their minds — before they call someone else.
🤝
Knows when to step back
Clear guardrails. When it's too complex or sensitive, Hartley escalates by name to the right person in your firm. "I'd recommend speaking with Sarah about this." It knows when the accountant needs to be in the room.
🔒
Makes you impossible to leave
When "ask hartley" becomes a client's first instinct instead of Googling or opening ChatGPT, you're embedded in their operating rhythm. That's retention no compliance work can match.
Your clients' data is safe.
We know this is the first question you'll ask, and it should be. Hartley is built on AWS infrastructure with enterprise-grade security protocols. All client data is anonymised: Hartley works with the numbers, not the names. Two-factor authentication is standard for all users, and data is encrypted both in transit and at rest. Hartley inherits the same security framework that protects Clarity HQ's platform across 30+ countries. For full details, see our privacy policy at clarity-hq.com/privacy-policy.
Why hartley isn’t “just another chatbot”
What about the AI inside Xero or QuickBooks?
Xero and Intuit are both building AI features into their platforms. But their AI is designed to help clients use the software better, not to help them run their business better using a proven framework. It won't know the 7 Key Numbers or the 5 Levers. It won't escalate to Sarah in your firm. It won't flag that a client asking about cash flow three times in a week is really asking whether they can afford to keep going. Xero's AI works for Xero. Hartley works for your firm.
What this means for your firm.
Deeper client relationships
When clients use Hartley, they're engaging with your firm more often, not less. Every interaction reinforces that their accountant is providing value. You move from a firm they hear from quarterly to one embedded in their daily decisions.
Revenue you're currently leaving on the table
Your clients have questions right now that they're taking elsewhere — to Google, to ChatGPT, to a business coach charging £1,000 a month for advice without actual numbers behind it. hartley captures those moments for your firm.
A genuine competitive advantage
Almost no accounting firms are giving their clients a branded AI advisor that actually knows their numbers. When a prospective client is choosing between your firm and another, "we give you access to an AI advisor that knows your business" is a conversation-ender.
Hartley doesn't just flag opportunities, it creates them!
If a client asks Hartley a question and there's no action plan or financial plan in place, hartley will gently let them know: "I can give you a better answer on this once you've got a financial plan in place. It might be worth speaking with [your firm] about setting one up — it'll help us both keep you on track." It's not a hard sell. It's hartley being honest about its own limitations. And it naturally leads the client back to your team for the work that matters most.
Future-proofing against compliance commoditisation
AI will increasingly handle accounts preparation and tax filings. The firms that thrive will be those that've already shifted their client relationships from compliance delivery to advisory value. hartley accelerates that shift.

Built on the same framework you’ll use with your clients.
Hartley isn't a generic AI bolted onto your practice. It's built on the same advisory frameworks that Clarity HQ members use every day. When you sit down with a client and work through their numbers using the Clarity CLEAR methodology, Hartley reinforces that same thinking between meetings.
It speaks the same language as your advisory conversations. It doesn't contradict your approach or confuse your clients with a different framework. It's a natural progression; the methodology doesn't stop when the meeting ends.
How to get hartley
Clarity Members
The natural extension of everything you're already doing. Your team uses Numina internally. Hartley gives your clients the same intelligence between meetings.
Not yet using Clarity
Hartley works as a standalone AI advisory assistant. You'll get data-driven insight, visibility, and guardrails. And when you see what's possible, you'll understand why the methodology matters.
Any Firm
Hartley is available to any accounting firm. You don't need to be a Clarity HQ member, though firms using the Clarity methodology get the most from it.

Hartley is accessed via the existing Clarity platform. Clients log in as they normally would to see their 7 Key Numbers: Hartley appears as a dedicated AI chat feature on that page. This means no new logins, no separate product to set up, and no app store complexity for beta. The iOS and Android app follows after beta and will simply be the client-facing platform in native app form: conversation history travels with the account automatically.
For non-Clarity firms joining via the public beta, onboarding onto the platform is part of the beta setup process.
Why charge for the beta?
Running AI that genuinely knows your clients' numbers costs money to operate. The £99 reflects real usage costs; we're not making margin here. We want accounting firms that are serious about being the advisor their clients actually turn to.
